When we invited noted hot-rod artist Vince Ray to come up with yet another fabulous limited edition Fender acoustic, he blew our minds by turning in his most elaborately outlandish model yet. This over-the-top rock-and-roll-mayhem-hot-rod-horror-show-pinup-girl machine is called the Vince Ray Voodoo-Bucket 300CE, and you better believe it puts the dread in dreadnought.
You get skulls and skeletons, motorcycles, black cats and serpents, demons and
witches, disembodied hands beating bongos from hell, fortunes told and spells
cast, stars, flames, headstones and more. In short, you get the mind of Vince
Ray himself embodied in a 500-instrument run of guitars that look they jumped
straight out of the previews from some drive-in B-movie nightmare.
The Vince Ray Voodoo-Bucket 300CE also happens to be a great-sounding,
well-crafted instrument, with features including a spruce top with quartersawn
scalloped “X” bracing, mahogany back and sides, body binding, bound mahogany neck
with Graphtech Nubone nut, rosewood fingerboard with
new 12th-fret “F” logo inlay
design, rosewood bridge with Graphtech Nubone compensated saddle, strap-pin and end-pin jacks, and Fishman Isys III
pickup/active preamp system with built-in chromatic tuner, on/off switch,
three-band EQ and volume control. A feast for the eyes and the ears.
